Liverpool striker Christian Benteke will undergo an MRI scan to determine the extent of his hamstring injury and could miss a re-union with former club Aston Villa on Saturday.
Benteke, a £32 million arrival from Villa this summer, may miss the meeting having sustained an injury during the first half of the club's 1-1 draw against Norwich City on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday's League Cup tie with Carlisle United, which Benteke is ruled out of, first-team coach Gary McAllister confirmed the Belgium international would need further assessment.
"Christian is going to have an MRI scan today," McAllister said on Tuesday.
"Hopefully we'll find out [about] the problem. He's got a little problem on his hamstring."
