No special treatment for Terry, warns Conte

No special treatment for Terry, warns Conte

The former England captain made his first appearance for the Blues in over six weeks during a 2-1 EFL Cup defeat to West Ham and is not assured of a starting place

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has warned John Terry his status as captain does not guarantee him a place in the starting XI.

The 35-year-old made his first appearance in over six weeks when the Blues suffered a 2-1 EFL Cup defeat to West Ham on Wednesday, the veteran defender having recovered from an ankle problem.

Terry had been an unused substitute for Chelsea's previous two matches and is expected to be back on the bench when Conte's men travel to play Southampton on Sunday, with the Italian not giving the long-serving centre-back any special treatment.

"My decisions are only for the best for the team, for the club and to win," Conte told reporters.

"If one player is captain or vice-captain, it's not important.

"It's important to find the right solution to take the best decision for the team, in this moment. Yes, I can make a mistake, but I always try to make the best decision.

"We win together and we lose together in every circumstance. I have always to take the best decision for the team, never for an individual player.

"It's logical that John came back from injury and it's not easy to restart and to find quickly the right shape. I'm satisfied [with] him and the team.

"John is an important player for us - if he plays or if he doesn't play - for the changing room, for his team-mates, for the club."

I made you, 24 others billionaires – Obasanjo tells Alakija

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said on Saturday in Lagos that Africa’s richest woman by Forbes reckoning, Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, was among the 25 billionaires he made during his tenure as President.

Obasanjo stated this at the 2016 Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Forum.

The former president was reacting to an allegation by Alakija, at the event, that the Obasanjo administration frustrated her effort when she ventured into oil business.

Alakija, who spoke before Obasanjo, alleged that his administration illegally took an oil block allocated to her company after her family had invested all its savings to strike oil in commercial quantity.

She said, “This oil block is in 5000 feet depth of water and was extremely difficult to explore.

“It took 15 years from the time that we were awarded the licence in 1993 till 2008 when we struck the first oil

“When this event happened, 60 per cent out of our 60 per cent equity in the business, was forcefully taken from us by the government of the day without due process.

“We had to fight back by going to court to seek redress and it took another 12 years for justice to be served in our favour.

“In all those years it was my trust in God, my perseverance and the support of my family that got me going.”
.
She used her experiences to charge the 2000 budding entrepreneurs at the event to be dogged, determined and not to give up in the face of challenges.

When Obasanjo spoke, the former president seized the opportunity to reply to the allegation by Alakija.

He said, “There is a saying in my part of the world that when a proverb touches you and you failed to reply, then you are a coward.”

Obasanjo explained that the action of the government then was in line with the Mining Act, which regulates oil prospection and exploration.

He said, “For you to come here and say that, for no cause whatsoever, you were denied what was rightfully yours, is not fair.

“I do not know you from Adam and there is no reason I would have denied you what rightfully belonged to you.

“So, you have struggled, and you have struck oil. God bless your heart.

“My delight is to be able to create Nigerian billionaire and I always say it that my aim, when I was in government was to create 50 Nigerian billionaires.

“Unfortunately I failed. I created only 25 and Madam, you are one of them.”

Obasanjo hailed the vision of Mr. Tony Elumelu for helping to build African young entrepreneurs with his resources.

He also urged the government to create conducive environment for people to move businesses into the country.

The former president urged government to relax its visa policy and company registration process to encourage investors.

He said the government should create certification centres in the country for easy exportation of agro processed products.

The President of Sierra Leone, Bai Koroma, noted that what transpired between Obasanjo and Alakija was part of the challenges and difficulties that leaders lived with in the discharge of their duties.

With limited resources competing for unlimited demands and expectations from the people, leaders were seen to be larger than life, he said.

Koroma also commended Elumelu for his project for African young entrepreneurs adding that his vision resonated with a new Africa development agenda.

Penaldo! How many of Cristiano Ronaldo's goals are penalties?

The Portugal international is renowned for scoring plenty of efforts from 12 yards, but exactly how do his numbers tally up?

Saturday was a special occasion for Cristiano Ronaldo, as the Real Madrid striker celebrated breaking the milestone of 350 league goals against Alaves.

Ronaldo back in the groove - but Morata must start ahead of Benzema

The Portugal international converted one penalty, missed another and netted twice again for good measure to mark a hat-trick against the Basques.

But just how many goals, exactly, does the star actually score courtesy of the penalty spot?

Exactly 20 per cent of all his La Liga goals have come from 12 yards, with Ronaldo netting 53 of his 265 Madrid league efforts with penalties.

That percentage then drops significantly for the Champions League: 10 out of his 80 strikes, or 12.5% in Europe.

Taking the Copa del Rey into account (three out of 21, a total of 14.3%), the striker has hit 66 out of his 371 Madrid goals from the spot.

That means that no less than 17.8% of his goals, or almost one in five, come through penalties.

President Mahama Confers Adenuga With Ghana's Highest Civilian Honour

Ghana’s President John Mahama (right) congratulating the Chairman of Globacom, Dr Mike Adenuga Jr. after conferring on him Ghana’s highest national civilian honour, the Companion Of The Star Of Ghana (CSG) in Accra on Saturday.

Globacom Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr, has been awarded Ghana’s highest civil award, the Companion of the Star of Ghana (CSG). Ghanaian President, Mr John Dramani Mahama, conferred the award on the multibillionaire investor on Saturday, October 29, at the International Conference Centre, Accra, Ghana.

President Mahama said Dr Adenuga was honoured for his “unique and outstanding contribution to business enterprise both in Ghana and the continent of Africa at large.”

“Through your creative business exertions, you have touched many lives in Ghana. You have provided employment for our teeming youth, artists, footballers and many more. I am particularly proud of you. This award is our way of saying a simple Thank You,” the President said.

He also commended Adenuga for “transformational achievements in the telecommunications industry”, a major one being the laying of the Glo 1 optic fibre cable linking several African countries including Ghana with Europe and America.

President Mahama equally lauded Dr Adenuga’s contribution to telecommunications in Ghana since Glo Mobile’s launch, and thanked him for the huge investment in the project. The President noted that Dr Adenuga’s investment decisions and his persistent and affirmative support for sports have earned him honours all over Africa.

He noted that this was one of the strong reasons that recommended Dr Adenuga for Ghana’s highest civilian honour. Dr Adenuga, in his acceptance remarks, noted that President Mahama’s “recognition and support of my modest contributions to the development of Ghana’s economy have come as a great source of pride and encouragement to me. This is more so as it is coming from Your Excellency, whose sterling qualities of leadership I admire greatly”.

Dr. Adenuga’s Glo Mobile is a leading telecommunication services provider in Ghana. Besides providing direct and indirect employment opportunities to thousands of Ghanaians, Glo Mobile Ghana has, since launch in 2012, been the pacesetter in innovation, excellent service delivery and consumer loyalty reward in the country’s telecom market, particularly in the data segment.

The company's international submarine cable, Glo 1, which landed in Accra in 2009 also opened up a whole vista of unprecedented opportunities for businesses, government institutions and individuals in the country by giving them much better access to more affordable broadband.

Glo Mobile also played a major role in developing Ghanaian football through the sponsorship of the country’s national teams, the domestic football league and the football supporters’ club. The sponsorship lasted for several years. Back in Nigeria, Dr. Adenuga was in 2012 conferred with the award of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) by the Federal Government.

GCON is the highest honour for a civilian who is not in government in the country. The Federal Government of Nigeria said Dr Adenuga was honoured for his immense contribution to the socio-economic development of Nigeria and the West African sub-region.

“He worked very hard to establish Globacom which today provides hundreds of thousands of jobs in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin Republic. His company has also established footprints in Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal and The Gambia,” the then President, Goodluck Jonathan had said.

Stop running to Buhari, Jimoh Ibrahim tells Mimiko

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, has asked Governor Olusegun Mimiko to stop seeking assistance from the Presidency over the removal of Eyitayo Jegede as the PDP candidate for the November 26 poll in the state.

Ibrahim said the President remained a law-abiding person and would not tamper with the decision of the court on the Ondo governorship poll.

Ibrahim maintained that many indigenes of the state were already celebrating “Mimiko’s defeat.”

He insisted that the protests in Akure, the state capital, was sponsored by Mimiko to generate  fake security concerns.

“President Buhari cannot stop the Court of Appeal from sitting; he cannot stop the Supreme Court from hearing the applications of the parties involved in this matter. So, Mimiko should learn from Buhari and  abide by the decision of the court. Mimiko should wait till the Supreme Court finally makes a pronouncement on the matter. I know the matter will end up at the Supreme Court eventually. So, why is he not ready for the legal process to mature?  Why is he running up and down,” he said.

In an interview with our correspondent  on Saturday, Ibrahim said it was shameful that Mimiko, who had been castigating President Buhari, could be seeking the help of the President.

“Ondo people want me to ensure that Mimiko does not succeed himself. I have nothing to lose. I congratulate Ondo people for the victory I gained over Mimiko. I share their joy. I congratulate them that, at least, we were able to defeat Mimiko. They are already celebrating Mimiko’s defeat. I praise God for the victory.”

The PDP governorship candidate further noted that Mimiko was indicting himself as an “incredible chief security officer of the state” for allegedly sponsoring the protests.

He said, “We are in the 21st century. Nobody can be deceived. Mimiko has castigated Buhari several times. So, why is he now going to the President? What does he want President Buhari to do?

“The President is law-abiding. He abided by the law to become the president. Mimiko should stop running to INEC, the presidency for help.”

How female suicide bombers attacked IDP camp, NNPC station

The Nigerian Police on Saturday confirmed that nine persons were killed in two suicide bomb attacks in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The Borno State Commissioner of Police, Damien Chukwu, told journalists that the first incident occurred at the entrance to Bakassi Camp, a camp for Internally Displaced Persons, after the early morning Islamic prayer.

According to Chukwu, a female suicide bomber mingled with a group of people returning from the mosque at a few minutes to seven in the morning.

He said she detonated the bomb, which was strapped to her body, killing her and five others in the process and injuring 15 others.

The police boss said at a distance of about two kilometres away, another female suicide bomber in a tricycle detonated a bomb which claimed her life and that of two others with her in the tricycle.

Chukwu said the bomber had tried to detonate the explosive device near a truck conveying petrol to cause collateral damage but was cut off by an onrushing Peugeot 404 car.

He said though the explosion affected the car, the tanker was saved from what could have been a major disaster.

The National Emergency Management Authority also confirmed the bomb attacks in a statement by its spokesman, Sani Datti, who said nine persons were killed in the twin explosions while 24 persons were injured.

Datti, in a text message to our correspondent, explained that the two explosions in Maiduguri occurred at the entrance to Bakassi IDPs camp and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation filling station along Damboa Road.

He said the agency’s rescue team was immediately deployed in the area to evacuate the victims.

One of the commandants of the Civilian Joint Task Force, Abba Ali Kalli, confirmed in a telephone interview with our correspondent that the two incidents happened early on Saturday morning.

Kalli, however, said the number of casualties at the Bakassi camp entrance had yet to be ascertained, adding that the incident at the NNPC depot junction claimed three lives, including the suicide bomber and two others in a tricycle.

In another statement, the Nigerian Army, through its spokesman for 7 Division in Maiduguri, Col. Mustapha Anka, confirmed that the incidents occurred simultaneously at about 7.05am on Saturday.

Anka said, “At the Bakassi IDPs camp, a suspected female suicide bomber ran into a group of men and women at the entrance while they were coming out of the camp, killing five men and injured 11 women. The corpses and the injured women have been evacuated.

“At the NNPC, a female suicide bomber followed a fuel tanker in a ‘Keke NAPEP’ tricycle with the sole aim of gaining entrance to cause maximum damage but was prevented from gaining access to the station by another vehicle. In that process, the suicide bomber detonated the bomb, killing the three passengers of the tricycle. No injured person was reported at this instance.”

'Pep smiles in your face then betrays you' - Yaya's agent blasts Guardiola

Image result for Yaya Toure's agent Dimitri Seluk

The agent of Yaya Toure continued his war of words with Manchester City's coach, blasting his actions as cowardly

Yaya Toure's agent Dimitri Seluk has launched another scathing attack on Pep Guardiola, calling the Manchester City manager two-faced and demanded that he show respect.

The ongoing drama between the trio has dragged on since the summer, when Toure - who left Barcelona in 2010 while Guardiola was coach there - was excluded from City's Champions League squad.

Seluk hit out at the Catalan for the first time then and Guardiola threatened not to play his client again until he received an apology, which has not yet been forthcoming.

And the agent has now escalated the matter by claiming he has been met with a wall of silence when he attempted to contact Guardiola, calling his exile of Toure personal and revenge for their time at Barcelona.

"When Yaya was left out of the Champions League squad, I called Pep. I wanted to ask him his reasons, but he didn't call me back," Seluk told the Daily Mirror.

"I also tried to call [City director] Txiki [Begiristain] - but he didn't call me back either. So I don't think the club can criticise me for doing an interview in the newspaper when they wouldn't even talk to me.

"Pep talks about respect. But to get respect you have to show it. Before City played at the Nou Camp, I called Pep again. I wanted to ask him if we could meet for talks while he was in Barcelona.

"I also called Txiki. But nothing came back. I sent them texts also, but again there was nothing back. I have the phone records to prove this.

"I was not making contact to apologise - but neither Pep or Txiki knew this. Why should I apologise when I am guilty of nothing but telling the truth?

"My idea was to talk man-to-man, to find out how we can move things forward for the best interests of Manchester City and Yaya.

"All I got was silence. So it must be clear to everyone that Pep isn't looking for an apology. It is about him turning Sheikh Mansour and the City fans against a player who loves the club.

"Pep is allowing his ego to make decisions that aren't in the best interests of Manchester City."

Seluk expanded more on his theory that Guardiola was exacting revenge on Toure, adding: "I know what his [Guardiola's] problem is. When Pep forced Yaya out of Barcelona I criticised him.

"This is his revenge. And it is personal, not professional. I asked City in the summer if they wanted Yaya to leave and was told that he was part of the plan.

"It is now clear that wasn't the truth. I think the plan was to humiliate Yaya - and all the other players who have made history for Manchester City in the last six years.

"Yaya isn't the only one. [Joe] Hart and [Samir] Nasri have also paid because they are big personalities.

"Pep doesn't want to work with men. He wants to work with players who are very young because he can control them like children.

"Pep smiles at you. He makes you believe he is your best friend - and then he betrays you."

And Seluk believes Guardiola's stubbornness and refusal to play Toure during their recent six-game unbeaten run is hurting the club, stating the midfielder was in a position to help the team earn results but overlooked.

"Pep knew that he needed Yaya in this period. Yaya would have been perfect to play against Manchester United," he continued. "But instead of swallowing his pride and asking Yaya to play, he preferred to lose a derby game.

"I don't think City fans will be happy about that."

Seluk also went into the conspiracy he believes swirled around City when Guardiola was announced as the incoming manager in the middle of last season, when former boss Manuel Pellegrini was fighting to earn results.

"Why do you think that Guardiola was announced as the next City manager last season?" questioned the representative. "It was because they knew that Pellegrini had a great chance of winning the Premier League and the Champions League.

"They didn't want that to happen because Pep took over at Bayern Munich after they had won both titles and he could not improve on that.

"They wanted to make it impossible for Pellegrini to succeed."

Despite Toure's struggles, Seluk went to lengths to insist the Ivorian will not leave the club in January and prefers to fight for his place: "Yaya won't leave in January. That might make it easier for the men in charge, but he will not take the easy way out.

"Yaya is a professional. He is in great shape. He could play tomorrow. He has given everything to City for almost seven years. He has made history - like Hart and Nasri - and then they are treated by Pep like they are nothing.

"Yaya should be made an ambassador for Manchester City when he retires. But the men who control the club don't want him to be remembered as a legend.

"If anyone deserves an apology it is Yaya, Sheikh Mansour and City's fans - from Pep Guardiola."

EFCC takes over judges’ probe, arrests insurance directors

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has taken over the investigation of allegations of corruption against some judges in the country from the Department of State Service.

A top operative of the commission told SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday that the commission took over the investigation of the judges, who were raided by operatives of the DSS following a directive by the President that the EFCC should do a painstaking investigation into the allegation.

SaharaReporters had quoted sources  in the Presidency as having said that the President gave a directive to the EFCC to take over the investigation of the allegations against the judges whose houses were raided on October 8 by operatives of the DSS in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, Enugu, Sokoto and Gombe.

Our findings revealed that the commission had commenced discreet investigation into allegations of corruption against the affected judges.

However, the source stated that the investigation had been made more difficult for the EFCC because of the public outcry, which followed the manner in which the judges were arrested.

The operative said it was the traditional pattern of the EFCC to secretly investigate corruption long before going after suspects.

It was stated that with the noise generated by the arrest of the judges, the investigation would be devoid of the aura of secrecy which is often a major aspect of probes conducted by the commission.

The source said, “The commission has taken over the probe into the allegation of corruption against those judges whose residents were raided by operatives of the DSS.”

The EFCC had invited four Senior Advocates of Nigeria for interrogation for allegedly transferring huge amounts of funds into the accounts of some serving judges under probe on Friday.

Prior to the invitation of the four senior lawyers, the commission had quizzed four Senior Advocates of Nigeria in connection with the ongoing investigation of judges in the country.

The lawyers reported to the Lagos office of the commission and were interrogated and released on Thursday.

An operative of the commission said there was a strong likelihood that the invited lawyers would report to the commission for interrogation with effect from Monday.

Meanwhile, the agency has arrested some directors of insurance companies for swindling their underwriting firms of millions of naira.

Some other directors were also picked by the EFCC for illegally acquiring huge shares in the underwriting firms without paying for them.

The Commissioner for Insurance, Mohammed Kari, stated this while speaking during a seminar for journalists.

He said, “I can confirm that one chairman returned N66m. We have identified quite a few cases like that and we have stood our ground that they must refund it because these are shareholders and policyholders’ money and not their personal money.”

800 herdsmen in custody, community police underway – Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that no fewer than 800 suspected violent herdsmen have been arrested across the country by security agencies.

Osinbajo said this in Houston, Texas in the United States on Friday at a Townhall event where he interacted with US-based Nigerians, according to a statement, issued on Saturday, by his spokesperson Mr. Laolu Akande.

The Vice President fielded about 30 live and internet questions at the event moderated by Mr. Rudolf Okonkwo of Sahara Reporters and Prof. Nimi Wariboko of Boston University.

On the herdsmen attacks in certain states across the country he said the Federal Government was acting to curb the menace.

“The President has given firm instructions to the security agencies to arrest not only herdsmen who are attacking communities anywhere in the country but anyone of them or anyone at all in possession of firearms.

“There are about 800 of suspected violent herdsmen in the country that are currently in custody,” he said.

The Vice President, however, decried the slow pace of the criminal justice system which is affecting the prompt trial of such suspects.

Osinbajo reminded the audience that the issue of killings by such violent herdsmen had been a perennial issue especially as grazing lands continued to disappear over the years and the cattle fed on people’s crops on the farmlands.

He explained that the matter just did not crop up when President Buhari assumed office.

Osinbajo then cautioned against the tendency of interpreting the herdsmen issue as a religious issue, stressing that it was important for all Nigerians to refuse such divisive narratives and tendencies.

He reminded his audience that there had always been conflicts between herdsmen and communities across the country.

Osinbajo said that people should disabuse the notion that the problem had just started because President Buhari, a Fulani, is currently at the helm of affairs in the country.

On community policing, the Vice President indicated that community policing via State Police is indeed a cardinal programme of the ruling APC.

He, however, noted that the party’s agenda could not be introduced until there was an amendment to the nation’s constitution.

He gave a scenario where a policeman from Bayelsa for instance was working in Borno where he could neither speak the language nor understand the culture of the people, noting that such was counterproductive.

“The current situation where police activities are controlled at the federal level sure has some limitations.

“The Federal Government is currently working to introduce community policing that would be in line with the constitution.”

I bought two human heads for N10,000 — Herbalist

Three persons in possession of two human skulls have been arrested at a hideout in Ogbomoso by policemen from the Oyo State Police Command.

The state Commissioner of Police, Samuel Adegbuyi, said the arrest was made after the police received information from members of the public, who had raised the alarm that the suspects were dealing in human parts.

One of the skulls was discovered to have had what looked like a deep machete cut at its temple, leaving the police to suspect that the person the head belonged to might have been gruesomely killed.

Ramoni Akeem, 41, Azeez Ojelade, 36, and Salimon Salami, 40, were the suspects arrested by the police.

Akeem said he paid N10, 000 for the skulls and that Salami was the vendor.

Akeem said, “I am a herbalist and I heal people with herbs. I have never used body parts for rituals. One day, a friend came to me and said his friend discovered two corpses on a land where he had wanted to cut trees. He asked if I knew what body parts could be used for. I told him that I did not know anything about charms prepared with body parts.

“One of our friends, Saheed Ifa, who is a senior herbalist, heard about it and said he could make use of the skulls to prepare charms. When the skulls were produced, the man who brought them demanded for N10, 000. I paid him in four instalments. But that is all I know about the skulls. Ifa has travelled to Lagos. I don’t know where he lives in Lagos.”

Salami, who claimed to have discovered the corpses, denied any wrongdoing.

He said, “I was asked to cut some trees on a large piece of land but when I got there, I discovered two corpses and I told a friend that I was afraid to work on the land because someone killed two people there. He said I should continue with my work while he looked for what to do with the corpses. When he got a buyer, he contacted me and I went back to the bush and dismembered the heads from the bodies,” he said.

Borno employs 1000 female IDPs as Street Vanguards

The Borno State Government on Saturday said it had employed 1, 000 women among the Internally Displaced Persons as Street Vanguards to boost sanitation in the state capital.

Alhaji Nasiru Surundi, the Sole Coordinator of the Borno State Environmental Protection Agency, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Maiduguri.

Surundi said the IDPs who were selected based on their applications, were posted to strategic locations in the state capital to clean the surroundings .

According to him, more vanguards would be employed and posted to some of the Local Government Areas liberated from the Boko Haram insurgents.

” The agency has precured high quality sanitation equipment which include about 400,000 chemical spray, vapour, excavators and hydrofoamers.

Surundi said the gesture was also part of the agency’s efforts to prevent the outbreak of diseases as well as create job opportunities for victims of the insurgency.

“We are constantly challenged by this negative behaviour of residents toward environmental issues such as indiscriminate littering and open defecation.

“We, therefore, engaged this women who are mostly widows and the most vulnerable victims of the insurgency who have lost their spouses to the mayhem.

“ This is to enable them to have a means of livelihood as well as cater for their children and other loved ones,’’ he said?

Suspected herdsmen in military uniforms attack Kaduna village, kill seven

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in Army uniforms on Thursday evening invaded the Ungwar Missi village in Jema’a Local Government Area, Kaduna State, killing seven persons while several others were critically injured.

Among those killed by the suspected herdsmen dressed in Army uniforms were an 85-year-old District Head of the village, John Zango and an 80-year-old man, Yakubu Abuja.

The Kaduna State Police Command confirmed the attack but said only four and not seven persons lost their lives.

Its Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Usman, who confirmed the attack, said the police had since commenced investigation into the matter.

This is coming just less than two weeks after the attack on Godogodo, in Jema’a Local Government Area, which claimed no fewer than 20 lives, a development that forced the chairman of the local government area to place the area under curfew.

It was learnt that the group, in army uniforms, came to Ungwar Missi village and called out the Village Head, Mr. John Zogo, and the elders of the village for what they claimed to be security briefing on the situation in the area.

An eyewitness said that as soon as the group in military uniforms started discussing with the village head and the elders, there were gunshots on the outskirts of the village and “the same soldiers then shot and killed the village head and some others in his house and fled.”

According to the eyewitness, they did not stay to defend the village.

“The whole village was burnt down and those who managed to escape have no place to stay now,” he said.

EFCC sets up team to identify, mark Patience Jonathan’s property

Indications emerged on Friday that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was intensifying moves to gather evidence against the former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, for a possible prosecution.

A top operative of the commission said on Friday that the leadership of the commission had initiated a discreet probe of the former First Lady in a bid to assemble evidence against her in the event of her prosecution as a fallout of the commission’s decision to freeze $20m traced to her.

The source said that the commission had assembled a team of detectives saddled with the responsibility of identifying all houses and property belonging to the former First Lady.

It was stated that the operatives had been instructed from the office of the commission’s chairman to mark such houses and property as part of the preparation for the prosecution of the First Lady.

It was further stated that the operatives were focusing attention on property in Abuja, Yenagoa, Port Harcourt and other cities in the country.

The source said, “It would not be correct to conclude that the commission has halted the investigation into the activities of the former First Lady.

“The investigation is progressing and it is being handled by the office of the chairman of the commission.

“A team of operatives has been assembled to identify all her properties in the country with a focus on Abuja, Port Harcourt and Yenagoa.

“The responsibility of the team is to mark all such properties in preparation for a possible court action.”

The EFCC had traced $5m to the personal account of the former First Lady and frozen the account domiciled in Skye Bank Plc last month.

The commission’s face off with Mrs. Jonathan started when the commission froze the accounts of four companies traced to the Special Adviser to ex-President Jonathan on Domestic Affairs, Waripamowei Dudafa.

The four firms identified as Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company had a total of $15,591,700 in their accounts.

However, the commission was brought into a face-off with Mrs. Jonathan when she deposed to an affidavit that the money belonged to her.

The former First Lady has since filed a suit at a Federal High Court in Lagos against the commission seeking an order to unfreeze the accounts.

She is also demanding $200m compensation from the commission for alleged violation of her rights.

The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said that he did not have the information on the latest move by the commission as of the time of filing this report on Friday.

Meanwhile, the former Special Adviser to former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Reuben Abati, might spend the weekend in detention.

A source at the commission said that Abati was still struggling to meet the conditions of the administrative bail granted him by the commission on Friday night.

Lewis Hamilton says he won't throw in the towel on 2016 title dream

Lewis Hamilton insists "anything is possible" in what have been labelled his "three FA Cup finals" in the closing month of F1's title battle.

The Mercedes driver has vowed not to throw in the towel even though Rosberg could secure the title this weekend in Mexico.

Hamilton's win in last Sunday's US GP means he heads to Mexico with a reduced title deficit to Nico Rosberg of 26 points, but the gap remains sufficient for his Mercedes team-mate to be able to finish second in every race and become champion. Rosberg will also be crowned champion if he wins on Sunday and Hamilton fails to finish in the points.

But, buoyed by his first victory in three months in Austin, Hamilton insists he has retained a "positive mentality" amid the ups and downs of recent months.

Recounting his fluctuating fortunes since the summer break, Hamilton said: "Spa went well [from the back of the grid]. I had the best pace in the weekend of Monza and then I didn't get the start, which kind of decided that. Singapore obviously wasn't great, then Malaysia was great and then it wasn't great [when his engine blew].

"So I've still continued to keep a positive frame of mind - I've got to. There are still points available, anything is possible. The moment you give up that's the moment you're doomed. I've never given up in my life and I don't plan on doing so."

Hamilton's challenges in Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi have been likened to three successive finals by Red Bull boss Christian Horner.

"It's simple for him - it's like three FA Cup finals," said Horner. "He's just got to win all three races and then what happens with the other car he can't control."

Although Hamilton has clinched two of his three world titles in final-race showdowns, the 31-year-old has not triumphed before when he has been behind in the standings at this stage of the season.

In 2014, Rosberg led the title race for much of the year, but Hamilton moved ahead with five races to go and never relinquished the points lead.

Since F1's scoring system was changed six years ago, Sebastian Vettel in 2010 is the only driver to overturn a points deficit (14 points) with three rounds to go and win the title. The previous occasion came in 2007 when Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen came from 13 points back - the equivalent of 37 points today - to deny Hamilton, then at McLaren, the title in his debut year.

Hamilton is not banking on history repeating itself in his favour this time, but is aware F1's past shows shows why he has to keep pushing.

"Honestly, I don't try to compare it to other times, but history has shown lots of ups and downs and changes," he said. "There have been times where it's been dead certain already, and there have been times where it has flipped.

"So that's exactly why I've just got to keep my head down and try to do the job I have done this weekend [in Austin], which I seriously believe I can do. I can't control what's going to happen behind to this point, it's already been set what has happened in the past.

"All I can do is make sure that when I leave this season I know I did everything with a full heart."

Soccer Star Cristiano Ronaldo Opens First Hotel In Portugal

In the heart of downtown Lisbon, Pestana CR7 Lisboa is a brand-new 82-room hotel — the second property to open within the newly launched collaboration between soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Portuguese hospitality brand Pestana.

It was inaugurated on Oct. 2 with a red-carpet soirée; the first hotel, in the Portuguese archipelago Madeira, opened over the summer.

Previously a bank, the historic building was transformed by interior designer Jaime Morais, who swathed almost every inch of the hotel with references to Ronaldo’s illustrious sports legacy. To get a sense of the fantasy, even the staircase is outfitted with sensor-activated surround sound of soccer fans chanting.

Great location

In a bustling destination where it seems like a new hotel opens every week, Pestana CR7 Lisboa targets digitally savvy millennials who love Ronaldo, a national hero whose jersey, not coincidentally, sports the number 7.

The soccer-heavy decor, including in-room area rugs featuring an illustration of one of Ronaldo’s running patterns, is not for everyone, but the property offers amenities (welcome drinks, strong Wi-Fi, an a la carte breakfast menu) not often seen in Portuguese hotels.

What’s working
“Digital comfort” is one of Pestana’s stated priorities. To that end, there is a super-fast internet connection that allows guests to watch Netflix with no interruption. And because Ronaldo is the spokesperson for Meo, a local telecommunications company, everyone gets a password to access its Wi-Fi service in the city wherever it’s available.

While most of the country relies on standard breakfast buffets, Pestana CR7 Lisboa offers a diverse selection at the insistence of general manager Miguel Plantier, who was once an F&B manager at The Standard High Line in New York. Searching for a taste of home? There’s one breakfast dish here that you won’t find anywhere in Portugal: a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich.

It’s not perfect

The hotel is dark. Most of the staff will refer to this design decision to use a lot of grays and blacks as masculine. But unless the curtains are wide open, in-room visibility is low.

Akpobolokemi paid N40m rent, bought N38.5m bulletproof car –Witness

A witness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Orji Chukwuma, on Wednesday, tendered before a Federal High Court in Lagos the receipt of the N40m house rent allegedly paid by a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Patrick Akpobolokemi, for a rented apartment on Banana Island, Lagos.

The N40m, the witness said, was paid in three tranches of N12m, N14m and N14m, and covered Akpobolokemi’s rent for two years – for 2013 and 2014.

The witness, an EFCC investigator, also tendered before the court the receipt of a Toyota Landcruiser bulletproof jeep, which Akpobolokemi allegedly bought from a car dealer, Vision Motors, for N38.5m.

Chukwuma tendered the receipts as exhibits at the resumed trial of Akpobolokemi for an alleged fraud of N2.6bn in NIMASA.

Akpobolokemi was arraigned alongside five others by the EFCC before Justice Ibrahim Buba on December 4, 2015.

Standing trial with him are Ezekiel Agaba, Ekene Nwakuche, Governor Juan, Blockz and Stonz Ltd. and Al-Kenzo Logistics Ltd.

The EFCC alleged that the accused persons conspired among themselves and converted to their private use various sums of money which amounted to N2.6bn, belonging to NIMASA.

The alleged fraud was said to have been perpetrated within NIMASA between 2014 and 2015.

But the defendants had pleaded not guilty.

Chukwuma was the 12th witness that the EFCC would call in a bid to substantiate its claims.

Led in evidence at the resumed proceedings on Wednesday by the EFCC prosecutor, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, Chukwuma tendered three documents, which were Akpobolokemi’s house rent receipt of two years on Banana Island for N40m.

He also tendered the receipt of a Toyota Landcruiser bulletproof jeep, issued by Vision Motors for the sum of N38.5m, and Akpobolokemi’s Asset Declaration Form.

The documents were admitted in evidence against the accused person and marked by Justice Buba as exhibits P63 and P64 and P65 respectively.

The witness explained to the court that Akpobolokemi was a former lecturer at the Niger Delta University, where he earned a little above N100,000 as salary per month.

Justice Buba adjourned further proceedings in the case till November 26, 2016.

The EFCC alleged that Akpobolokemi conspired with others to defraud NIMASA of N2.6bn while he was the helmsman at the agency.

In one instance, the anti-graft agency alleged that sometime in February, 2014, in Lagos, the accused persons conspired among themselves to convert the sum of N437,726,666.60, belonging to NIMASA, to their own use.

They were further alleged to have, on January 9, 2014, converted to their private use the sum of N66,800, 000 property of NIMASA.

The accused persons were further alleged to have, between April and August, 2014, converted to their own use, the sum of N21,802,000 and additional N53,749,000.00 respectively.

The EFCC told the court that they acted contrary to sections 15 (3) and 18 (a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2012.

Seats torn apart & thrown as fan violence mars West Ham vs Chelsea clash

Seats torn apart & thrown as fan violence mars West Ham vs Chelsea clash

The Hammers' authorities have vowed to assist in bringing those responsible for crowd trouble in their EFL Cup match against Chelsea to justice

West Ham have condemned the crowd trouble that marred their 2-1 EFL Cup fourth-round victory over Chelsea on Wednesday.

The problems developed late in the game, as stewards battled to maintain segregation between the two sets of fans with Chelsea 2-0 down.

Previous incidents at matches against Watford and Middlesbrough - along with poor performances on the pitch - have made for a difficult start to life at London Stadium for West Ham, having left Upton Park at the end of last season.

And the club released a statement soon after the match, vowing to assist in bringing those responsible to justice.

"West Ham United and London Stadium partners unreservedly condemn the behaviour of individuals involved in incidents during this evening's fixture with Chelsea," read the statement.

"Whilst quickly brought under control, the club, in line with its clear zero tolerance policy, will work closely with London Stadium 185, the Metropolitan Police Service and Chelsea to identify the individuals involved.

"Once identified, those found to have acted improperly will be banned from attending any West Ham United fixtures for life and we will request the courts serve banning orders to prevent these individuals attending any other football."

A Chelsea spokesman also spoke out against the events, in which seats were torn apart and used as ammunition by fans.

"The club is extremely disappointed to see disturbances at the end of tonight’s game and we condemn such behaviour," he said.

"I’m unable to comment further until tonight’s incidents have been investigated properly."

Stop lamenting, find solution to recession – Oshiomhole

The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, says political leaders must stop lamenting the economic recession and find a way to get Nigeria out of the doldrums.

Oshiomhole spoke on Wednesday at the closing ceremony of the 2016 National Women Conference, organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials in Lagos.

He said, “Lamentation will not bail the country out of its economic downturn; taking the right step in the right direction will do that.”

The governor, at the event attended by the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, and his Kebbi State counterpart, Atiku Bagudu, also urged women to be resilient and demonstrate their potential as great economists.

Oshiomhole lauded Ambode’s efforts at boosting the state’s economy, adding that improved traffic management had reduced travel time and stress for residents.

He said,  “You have shown that our task as leaders is not to lament what does not work, but to think through on how to make it work and that is what you are doing; what  you have done and I know it is what you will continue to do.”

Oshiomhole said as the governor of Edo State, he had had cause to borrow ideas from Lagos State, expressing optimism that his successor and Governor-elect, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, would also be willing to use good ideas from anywhere.

COWLSO Chairman, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, said the three-day conference had opened the minds of participants to new ideas, information and statistics, saying that the women were better empowered to become change agents.

PDP asks National Assembly to reject Buhari’s borrowing plan

The Peoples Democratic Party has called on the National Assembly and Nigerians to reject a plan by President Muhammadu Buhari to borrow $29.96bn.

The party said rather than borrow funds, Buhari should explain to Nigerians what his administration had done with the recovered looted funds and how the 2016 budget was faring.

The spokesperson for the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the party, Prince Dayo

Adeyeye, stated this in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

Buhari had on Tuesday asked the National Assembly to approve the external borrowing plan to enable his government to raise funds to execute key infrastructure projects across the country between now and 2018.

But Adeyeye said the President must itemise what he intended to finance with the proposed borrowing of almost $30bn instead of lumping everything up in a coded term “and to plunge the nation’s future into a burden of debt”.

He said that the President’s approach could not be the preferred solution to the economic quagmire, which he alleged was created by the present government.

Adeyeye, a former Minister of State for Works, said, “This government budgeted N6.07tn for the 2016 fiscal year with a deficit of N2.22tn, and according to the breakdown, N1.8tn was budgeted for capital expenditure and President Buhari is now seeking to borrow over N9tn ($29.96bn) for ‘critical infrastructure’.

“This is absurd and way outside the government’s budgetary provisions for capital expenditure and must be rejected by all well-meaning Nigerians.

“Nigerians will recall that the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in June made public through a press statement an account of recovered looted funds between May 2015 and May 2016 amounting to N78.3bn, $185.1m, £3.5m and €11,250m in cash, while others were under interim forfeiture. What happened to the recovered funds?”

Adeyeye added that the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, recently said that the commission had recovered more money in the last eight months than it did in 12 years.

He said that Nigerians needed to know how much revenue the government had been able to generate from crude oil, non-oil and independent revenue sources since assumption.

The PDP leader said that the clarification would boost the confidence of Nigerians on the management of their resources, especially in this period of recession, and was necessary before thinking of engaging in external borrowing.

“The APC-led Federal Government is again taking Nigeria prior to year 2005 when the external debt burden derailed the growth of Nigeria’s economy and weakened the GDP before the total cancellation of her debt,” he added.

Adeyeye also said that the proposed action of the Federal Government would be a great injustice to the citizens now and in the future if they were plunged back into debt.

He said, “Let us state unequivocally that history will not forgive this APC government and its collaborators if they allow this injustice and maladministration of our economy and citizens to stand.

“We, therefore, call on the two chambers of the National Assembly to reject this anti-people request by an anti-people government that has no genuine interest for the growth and development of the people of this country.

“We again call on all Nigerians to speak with one voice and stop President Buhari from further destroying of our great nation, Nigeria, and by extension, Africa.”

Breast cancer: What you need to know about self-examination

Breast cancer is said to be the commonest type of cancer afflicting women in both developed and developing countries.

According to the World Health Organisation, its frequency in developing world is on the rise, contrary to the belief that it is a disease of the developed world. For instance, the WHO said almost 50 per cent of cases and 58 per cent of deaths from breast cancer occur in developing countries.

Scientists say that cancer can strike almost any part of the body. Researchers have also said that cancerous cells were normal cells before undergoing some changes which made them cancerous.

The Chief Medical Director, Medical Art Centre, Professor Oladapo Ashiru, says toxins or carcinogens in the environment, as well as food and contraceptives can be linked to breast cancer.

In an article titled ‘What every woman needs to know about cancer’, Ashiru said, “Carcinogens linked to breast cancer include ethyl alcohol, tobacco smoke, aromatic amines in plastics and DES in contraceptives. Recently the wearing of bras with metallic supports has been linked to breast cancer.

“The study of toxins and ‘carcinogenesis’ (development of cancer) is a very complex and dynamic field as more and more toxins are discovered. As noted before, toxins can be in the water you drink, your food, immediate environment (work, schools, house and other places), pesticides, solvents and so on. Toxins are involved in carcinogenesis, a very complex and sometimes poorly understood topic. It is pertinent to note that cancer cells are usually normal cells at first that undergo certain changes that cause them to begin to divide in an uncontrollable manner and spread.’’

Prevention is still the best cure

With the disease and its grave effects on the rise, experts have said that prevention, through a monthly self-examination,  is important in detecting the disease early and seeking treatment.

For instance, a Consultant Oncologist with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Prof. Remi Ajekigbe,  says that women and girls need to learn the process of breast self-examination.

According to him, early detection is important in cutting mortality rate.

“The incidence of all cancers is increasing. But that of breast cancer is even worse. Unfortunately we are still seeing patients presenting late. Cancer of the breast is on the increase but this may be due to increasing awareness. Wea re tellign women to examine their breasts. It is your breast, you see it and touch it everyday. If you notice any change in the shape or you notice a discharge, come to the hospital immediately. Any liquid that comes out of the breast aside from breast milk should be sent to the pathologists for examination. The chances of surviving breast cancer increases when it is detected early. But most patients present late and this is why we need to improve on awareness. When it comes to any type of cancer, prevention is the best cure,’’ he says.

 Self-examination

Breast cancer screening can be done through mammogram, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound scan and breast self-examination. But experts say the latter is the first in a long process of life-saving measures that can stop breast cancer in its tracks.

According to the Executive Director, Care, Organisation, Public Enlightenment, Mrs. Ebunola Anozie, the first symptom of breast cancer that most women notice is a lump or an area of thickened tissue in the breast. “Most lumps are not cancerous but it is always best to have them checked by your doctor,’’ she says.

Anozie,  whose non-governmental organisation provides free breast screening and support for breast cancer patients and survivors respectively, says  that BSE should ideally start with a visual inspection and then a manual inspection with the hands. She advises that women should first leave their hands out and check for lumps and depressions around the breasts and towards the armpits.

“In the privacy of your bathroom, strip to the waist and stand before a mirror. You will need to see both breasts at the same time. Stand with your hands on your hips and check the appearance of your breasts. Look at size, shape, and contour. Note changes, if any, in the skin color or texture. Look at the nipples and areolas, to see how healthy they look.

“Raise your left arm overhead and use your right-hand fingers to apply gentle pressure to the left breast. Stroke from the top to the bottom of the breast, moving across from the inside of the breast all the way into your armpit area. You can also use a circular motion, being sure to cover the entire breast area. Take note of any changes in texture, colour, or size. Switch sides and repeat. This is best done in the shower, as wet skin will have the least resistance to the friction of your fingers.

“Still facing the mirror, lower both arms. With the index and middle fingers of your right hand, gently squeeze the left nipple and pull forward. Does the nipple spring back into place? Does it pull back into the breast? Note whether or not any fluid leaks out. Reverse your hands and check the right nipple in the same way.

Place a pillow on the bed so that you can lie with both your head and shoulders on the pillow. Lie down and put your left hand behind your head. Use your right hand to stroke the breast and underarm.”

Six winless games are a concern, admits Pep

Six winless games are a concern, admits Pep

The Catalan saw his team fall to their neighbours to mark an historic personal low, but he is certain they can recover and start winning again

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola set his sights on other trophies as his team's winless run continued with a loss to rivals United.

For the first time in the Spaniard's career, his side have gone winless in six after losing 1-0 to Manchester United in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

Guardiola remains upbeat over City's chances of trophies this season, with the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup still up for grabs.

"Yeah, it’s six games – not a good situation – but we are out of one competition, we have three still," he said, via the club's website.

"We are going to see. I happy with the players and we are going to try in the future."

A second-half goal from Juan Mata was all that separated the city rivals at Old Trafford.

Guardiola praised teenagers Aleix Garcia and Pablo Maffeo in particular for their performances.

He said: "Aleix was outstanding – Pablo Maffeo as well, fighting with [Marcus] Rashford and [Paul] Pogba.

"We made a good performance, so there's no regrets. We were still fighting until the last minute.

"We are a young team. Kelechi [Iheanacho] is 20, Leroy [Sane] 20, Pablo 19 - it is a good experience for them. Fernando played amazing and helped the other ones."

Wabba sending EFCC, police after labour leaders – Ajaero

A factional President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joseph Ajaero, has attacked his counterpart, Ayuba Wabba, accusing him of creating confusion in the labour movement.

Ajaero accused Wabba of sending operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and other security agencies after other union leaders in the country.

In a letter addressed to Wabba and made available to one of our correspondents on Wednesday, Ajaero alleged that Wabba had invited security agencies to hunt labour leaders in the country.

According to him, the use of state powers to address labour issues rather than employing industrial relations strategies “is at best self-defeating and we can say very destructive.”

He said the plight of Nigerian workers should be the major concern to union leaders.

Ajaero added, “A true labour leader at this time ought to have exercised caution and soberly reflect as we are doing on the best way to resolve the longstanding issues within the family rather than resorting to self-help.

“A true leader should be worried about the state of Nigerian workers and deeply concerned about the increasing cries of deprivation and humongous suffering among the masses that truly look up to us for leadership out of this present quagmire.

“Trying to use any unconventional instrument of governance with the boast that their leadership has primordial affinity with yourself is a testament of deep frustration and cowardice.

“Introducing ethnic sentiment into the affairs of trade unions and the movement in general is the height of sabotage.”

Ajaero doubted the moral standing of Wabba, which informed his alleged decision to send anti-graft agencies after leaders of other unions.

He added, “Inviting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission or other security agencies through proxies, as a leverage to hunt labour leaders in Nigeria, will not work.

“We are also concerned that rather than seek clarification on your ignominious and illegal roles in your union, the Medical and Health Workers Union, your seeming dark activities in the Kriston-Lally affair in the congress; the labour transport, especially the management of the N3bn loan for buses from the last administration; and eventually the billion left in the congress’ accounts, you are trying to use magnifying glasses to look for skeletons in the cupboards of the leadership of other unions.”

The NLC broke into two factions following the declaration of a former President of Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Wabba, as the elected president of the congress at the 11th delegates conference in Abuja on February 12, 2015.

Some aggrieved affiliates, including the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers and the National Union of Electricity Employees, rejected the outcome of the election.

The aggrieved unions held a parallel conference in Lagos on March 20 which produced Ajaero as the leader of another faction of the congress.

Moves by past NLC leaders and a reconciliatory committee, headed by Hassan Sunmonu, to reunite the warring parties had been futile.

Seized $15m: Patience seeks N200m damages

A Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed December 7, 2016 to hear the N200m fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Skye Bank Plc to challenge the freezing of four bank accounts containing $15m.

The EFCC placed a ‘No Debit Order’ on the four accounts opened in the name of four companies which were linked to a former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Jonathan, Waripamo-Owei Dudafa.

The EFCC froze the four bank accounts on July 7, 2016 in the course of investigating Dudafa for money laundering.

But Patience had sued the EFCC and Skye Bank claiming the ownership of the $15m found in the four bank accounts.

The matter came up for the first time before Justice Babs Kuewumi on Wednesday.

At the hearing, Patience’s lawyer, Mr. Granville Abibo (SAN), applied to discontinue the earlier motion filed by his client for the purpose of amending it.

Justice Kuewumi granted the application and struck out the motion.

Abibo then informed the court that he had filed and served a new motion on the defendants.

But the EFCC lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo, said the suit was not ripe for hearing.

Abibo then urged the court to restrain the EFCC from tampering with the $15m in the frozen accounts pending the determination of the suit.

He said despite being served with court processes, the EFCC was still making moves that could overreach the court.

But Oyedepo urged the court to discountenance Abibo’s submission, saying that the accounts had long been frozen before Patience filed the suit and so the issue of interference with the accounts did not arise.

After listening to the parties, Justice Kuewumi adjourned till December 7, 2016 for the hearing of the case.

Patience is urging the court to compel the EFCC to immediately remove the ‘No Debit Order’ placed on the four bank accounts in question.

She also wants the court to order Skye Bank to pay her damages in the sum of N200m for what she termed a violation of  her right to own personal property under Section 44 of the 1999 Constitution.

Filed in support of the suit was an affidavit deposed to by one Sammie Somiari.

Somiari said it was Dudafa who helped Patience to open the four bank accounts which the EFCC froze.

According to him, Dudafa had on March 22, 2010 brought two Skye Bank officers, Demola Bolodeoku and Dipo Oshodi, to meet Patience at home to open five accounts.

He, however, claimed that after the five accounts were opened, Patience later discovered that Dudafa opened only one of the accounts in her name while the other four were opened in the names of companies belonging to Dudafa.

The four companies, whose accounts have now been frozen and which have also been charged with money laundering along with Dudafa, are Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development & Investment Co. Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited; and Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited.
