Pat Cummins has been ruled out of Australia's tour of Bangladesh next month due to a stress fracture in his back, with all-rounder James Faulkner named as his replacement.
The 22-year-old paceman experienced back pain towards the end of the recent one-day series in England, prompting a scan which led to the conclusion he will require a "lengthy" recovery programme.
Cricket Australia physiotherapist David Beakley said Cummins had undergone an MRI scan which revealed an early-stage lumbar bone stress fracture.
In a statement, Beakley said: "Pat Cummins experienced lower back pain during the last ODI match in the UK and this pain continued upon his return to Australia.
"He subsequently underwent an MRI scan [on Wednesday] which unfortunately has revealed a new early-stage lumbar bone stress fracture.
