NFL round-up: Cam Newton inspires unbeaten Panthers

Cam Newton threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Greg Olsen with 32 seconds remaining as the Carolina Panthers remained unbeaten with a stunning 27-23 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Newton led the Panthers (5-0) on a pair of 80-yard touchdown drives on their final two possessions after trailing 23-14, the second straight week the Seahawks have collapsed in the fourth quarter.

And he capped the fightback by hitting a wide-open Olsen down the seam as All-Pros Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman looked at each other in confusion.

Newton was 12 of 15 for 162 yards in the fourth quarter and threw for 269 yards overall.

In Cleveland, Peyton Manning shook off three interceptions and drove Denver in range for Brandon McManus' 34-yard field goal with 4:56 left in overtime as the Broncos edged the Browns 26-23.

Manning took the Broncos from their own 12 to Cleveland's 16 before McManus kicked his game-winner to make Denver 6-0 for the seventh time in franchise history. The Broncos only rallied thanks to their top-ranked defence, which came up big in overtime.

The Green Bay Packers stopped San Diego on fourth-and-goal from the three-yard line with 15 seconds left and overcame a career day by Philip Rivers to hold off the Chargers 27-20.

Rivers set career highs with 43 completions, 65 attempts and 503 yards passing. He threw for two touchdowns for the Chargers (2-4), but missed out on the one last completion he needed.

Third-string quarterback Landry Jones came off the bench to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 25-13 victory over the Arizona Cardinals at Heinz Field.

Jones, subbing for injured backup Mike Vick, led the Steelers to four second-half scoring drives, including an 88-yard touchdown pass to Martavis Bryant with 1:58 remaining that put the contest out of reach.

Vick left the game early in the third quarter with a hamstring injury having completed only three of eight passes for six yards and was replaced by Jones, who was eight for 12 for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

The Detroit Lions defeated the Chicago Bears 37-34 in overtime to secure their first win of the season after Matt Prater kicked a 27-yard field goal with 2:29 left in overtime.

Matthew Stafford, who passed for 405 yards and four touchdowns, heaved a 57-yard pass to Calvin Johnson to set up the kick for the Lions (1-5). Johnson finished with six receptions for 166 yards.

The Houston Texans scored three touchdowns in less than seven minutes in the fourth quarter to power past the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-20 in a showdown between AFC South teams.

Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer turned in a solid performance, connecting on 24 of 36 passes for 293 yards and three touchdowns. It was Hoyer's first game as a starter since the season opener against Kansas City.

Wide receiver Brandon Marshall made a highlight-reel 35-yard touchdown reception with 5:53 remaining in the third quarter as the New York Jets pulled away for a 34-20 home victory over the Washington Redskins.

The Redskins (2-4) scored their first 13 points off three New York turnovers but quarterback Kirk Cousins was intercepted twice in the second half and finished 25-of-43 for 196 yards.

Interim Miami coach Dan Campbell won his first game as the Dolphins physically dominated the Tennessee Titans at the line of scrimmage to carve out a 38-10 win at Nissan Stadium.

The Dolphins' defence, which entered the game rated 29th in the NFL in total defence and last against the run, finally looked like the unit the team envisioned in the offseason.

Defensive end Cameron Wake notched two of the team's six sacks, five more than they managed in the first four games.

Miami (2-3) gave up only 59 yards on the ground after yielding an average of 160.5 yards per game through four games, which allowed them to tee off on Tennessee rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota, who endured the roughest game of his career.

Kansas City running back Charcandrick West's critical fumble spoiled a potential game-winning drive as the Minnesota Vikings held on for a 16-10 win over the Chiefs at TCF Bank Stadium.

Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater finished 17-of-31 through the air for 249 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions. Kansas City held Minnesota to just 84 yards on the ground, including 60 yards on 26 carries by running back Adrian Peterson.

Colin Kaepernick passed for a season-high 340 yards and two touchdowns, leading San Francisco to a 25-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Boldin caught five passes for 102 yards while Smith caught three passes for 96 yards and a 76-yard touchdown. Kaepernick completed 16 of 27 passes with no interceptions.
