Salah ruled out for up to six weeks with ankle injury

The former Chelsea winger sustained the problem in Sunday's 2-0 derby win over Lazio and it has been confirmed that he now faces a prolonged spell on the sidelines

Mohamed Salah has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a knee injury, Roma have confirmed.

The former Chelsea winger was forced off in the 58th minute of Sunday’s derby clash with Lazio, after a robust challenge from Senad Lulic.

Goals from Edin Dzeko and Gervinho gave Roma a 2-0 win over their fierce rivals, but the club have now confirmed that Salah faces a prolonged spell on the sidelines after his injury was assessed.

A statement on the club’s website read: The tests revealed that Salah has sustained Grade II ligament damage to his right ankle.

“It is expected that the Giallorossi No. 11, who has made 11 league appearances for Roma so far this season and is the club’s third-highest scorer with six goals in all competitions, will be out for between four and six weeks.”
