Tennis:Great Britain's Davis Cup final team announced, pending Aljaz Bedene's appeal
Great Britain have named their team to play Belgium in the Davis Cup final in Ghent without Aljaz Bedene.
Slovenian-born Bedene is having an appeal against a ruling which bars him from playing for Britain heard by the International Tennis Federation in Prague on Tuesday.
But just hours before the appeal was heard, GB skipper Leon Smith confirmed that Andy Murray, Jamie Murray, James Ward, Kyle Edmund and Dominic Inglot will face the Belgians.
Smith made no mention of Bedene in his statement confirming his line-up. Ward and Edmund look set to fight it out to be Britain's second singles player behind Andy Murray.
The Murray brothers will almost certainly be paired together in the doubles, with Inglot included as back-up.
Ward has been a key figure in the run to the final, winning a vital rubber against the USA. But Edmund, 20, really pushed himself forward by winning a Challenger title on clay in Buenos Aires on Sunday and could make his debut in the final.
Dan Evans, who also won a title on Sunday, has been left out but was a late inclusion for the semi-final against Australia so could potentially still figure.
Smith said: "Our GB Davis Cup team is proud to be competing in the final in Ghent this year. It is an historic moment in British Tennis and I'm delighted to name these five players for the tie against Belgium.
"Andy has led from the front throughout this campaign, showing time and again what it means to him to pull on the GB jersey. He shows determination, commitment and passion that inspires the other British players on the bench and our fantastic fans in the stands.
"The team has had some incredible results this year, and we know that off the back of defeating the three other Grand Slam nations we carry great momentum going into the final, however we will not underestimate the challenge in front of us.
"The Belgian team is full of top 100 talent and they will push us all the way. While our team will be spearheaded by Andy, the other guys give us strong options in both the singles and the doubles positions.
"Jamie is having an outstanding year and is firmly established as a top 10 world ranked doubles player. He has played a key part in our ties this year with vital wins against both France and Australia partnering Andy."
The final takes place between November 27-29.
