Tennis:Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau win ATP World Tour Finals doubles title

Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau have won the ATP World Tour Finals doubles title after beating Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea 6-4 6-3 in London.

The duo won in just 60 minutes and showed why they are set to finish the season as the world's top-ranked doubles pair.

The second seeds, who had beaten top-ranked American duo Bob and Mike Bryan in the semi-finals, needed just one break to take the first set and then coasted to victory with two breaks in the second set.

Bopanna dropped his serve in the opening game despite hitting two aces.

Tecau saved two break points, including a deciding deuce point at 3-2, on their way to winning the first set which lasted 31 minutes.

In the second set, Bopanna lost his serve twice as Rojer and Tecau broke to love in the final game.

Rojer of the Netherlands and Romanian Tecau, who have been playing together for two seasons, went through all five matches without losing a set at the season-ending tournament

They are the first doubles team to win the event without losing a set since round-robin play began in 1986.

India's Bopanna and his Romanian partner Mergea had hoped to cap a memorable first season together by winning the event at the O2 Arena.

Bopanna said he was disappointed they could not capitalise on their break points but was pleased with his week's work.

He said: "We had one or two chances. The two break-points we had were in the same game. Of course, if we can convert that break-point, maybe it could have been different.

"Credit to them, they played really well. All we can do is just keep working on our game and keep fighting hard.

"It was just a tough day but it's been a great week, making it in the final for the first time for us as a team.

"We can take a lot of positives from this year, and looking forward to starting fresh in the beginning of the year in January."

Having only teamed up in April, this was the pair's fifth final together which included winning titles in Madrid and Stuttgart.
