Thiago to miss up to a month with knee injury

The Spain star was substituted during his country's 2-0 victory over England and will miss at least three weeks with a problem Bayern Munich say is unrelated to previous injuries

Bayern Munich have revealed Thiago will miss three to four weeks after injuring his right knee during Spain's friendly against England.

The midfielder was substituted in the first half of the 2-0 victory and scans have confirmed an injury to the capsule between the joint in his knee.

Bayern insist, however, that the problem "has nothing to do" with the injuries Thiago has suffered in the past. The former Barcelona man did not play until April after damaging a knee ligament last season.

Thiago is likely to miss the end of the Champions League group stage and around five Bundesliga fixtures, including Saturday's clash against Schalke.
