Cricket:Kevin Pietersen wins on Ram Slam T20 debut for Dolphins

Kevin Pietersen hit 22 on his Ram Slam T20 debut for the Sunfoil Dolphins, as they beat The Unlimited Titans by six runs in Centurion.

Pietersen - who will play five games before flying out to Australia to play in the Big Bash - hit only two fours in his 21-ball knock, but David Miller (62 from 32 balls) helped the Dolphins set the Titans a 180-run target to win.

Having reduced the home side to 104-6 in reply, the win looked to be routine till Albie Morkel (67 off 34) took the game to the final over. He was run out off the penultimate ball though as the Titans fell short on 173-8.

The game in Centurion was one of three on the day as the 2015 Ram Slam got underway with a double-header in Cape Town.

Bad weather at Newlands resulted in two rain-reduced games, with the first decided by a super-over after the Chevrolet Warriors and the VFB Knights were tied on 81 after the six-over-a-side contest.

Colin Ingram (52 off 21) hit five fours and four sixes for the Warriors while Ryan McClaren hit 34 from 17 for the Knights, with 21 runs coming from the final over to tie things up.

McLaren fell first ball in the super over as the Knights lost both their wickets without scoring. Ingram then smoked the four runs for the Warriors to win second ball.

Defending champions Nashua Cape Cobras fell tamely to a seven-wicket defeat to the bizhub Highveld Lions in the later game.

The Cobras managed only 125-8 from their 18 overs which the Lions comfortably chased down with eight balls to spare, Rassie van der Dussan (55 from 48) hitting fifty.
