Athletics: I'll only be a legend if I win in Rio,says Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt says he will only consider himself a "legend" of sport if he wins a third consecutive Olympic 100m title.

Bolt won the 100m gold medal at Bejing in 2008 and again in London in 2012. But he insists that he will only join the greats of sport by claiming his hat-trick in Rio next year.

"If I go to the Olympics and win, I will feel comfortable to say to anybody that I'm a legend. I want to be amongst the greats," he said.

"I have two more goals to accomplish before I retire. To win the Olympic title three times, that's one. And I would love to run sub 19 [seconds for the 200m] also. Those are the two big goals which keep driving me on, that I really want to do next season."

Bolt insists that he will only decide when he is going to hang up his spikes after next year's Olympics.

"I'm just leading up to the Olympics right now - that's my focus. I start training next week - it's Olympic year," he said.

"I've been discussing with my coach when I should retire. He said that after the Olympics I shouldn't say no, or yes.

"After the Olympics we will decide if I should retire or go on one more year."
