Costa reported to FA over steward incident

The Spain international was pictured stamping on the foot of a security official as he looked to retrieve the ball at the Britannia Stadium and could face disciplinary action

Chelsea striker Diego Costa may find himself in trouble with the Football Association after being reported to referee Anthony Taylor for an altercation with a steward during the Blues' defeat to Stoke City.

The Spain international was pictured clashing with the security official as he retrieved the ball by the tunnel at the Britannia Stadium, with reports suggesting Costa stood on his foot before being shoved back onto the pitch.

Goal understands the incident has been reported to Taylor, with the FA set to receive details in the referee's report while Chelsea are aware that a complaint has been made.

A club spokesman dubbed the allegations "nonsense" shortly after learning of the complaint.

Costa has already been punished by the governing body this term after he was handed a retrospective three-match ban for kicking out at Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista in September.

And he could face further action should his altercation with the steward be deemed serious enough.
