Athletics:IOC ethics committee recommends suspension of Lamine Diack

The International Olympics Committee ethics panel has recommended the provisional suspension of Lamine Diack as an honorary member.

French police revealed Diack, who stepped down as IAAF president in August, is under investigation for allegedly receiving more than £700,000 to cover up doping.

The 82-year-old from Senegal is accused of being complicit in a cover-up of doping by Russian athletes.

His son Papa Massata Diack, advisor Habib Cisse and the former IAAF anti-doping chief Gabriel Dolle are also being investigated by French police.

The announcement comes with athletics bracing itself for another dark day with the World Anti-Doping Agency due on Monday afternoon to publish its report into allegations of widespread doping among Russian athletes.
