RUMOURS: Man City weigh up move for Arsenal star Alexis

Pep Guardiola's side are reportedly waiting in the wings should the Chile international, whose current contract expires in 2018, fail to agree a new deal with the Gunners

Manchester City are ready to pounce if Alexis Sanchez fails to agree a new contract at Arsenal, according to the Daily Express.

Arsenal are currently in negotiations with Alexis and his representatives as they look to tie him down to a new deal, with his current contract set to expire in 2018.

But it is understood Pep Guardiola's men are waiting in the wings with interest and could make a move in January if an agreement is not struck between the Gunners and one of their key stars.

The report also claims talks have stalled between the two parties because Alexis, who wants £200,000-a-week to become Arsenal's highest paid player, is keen for a release clause to be added into any new agreement with the north Londoners.
