The Gunners hierarchy have reportedly earmarked the Bournemouth boss as their preferred choice to succeed the Frenchman when his contract expires in the summer of 2017
Arsenal want Eddie Howe as their next manager when Arsene Wenger leaves the club at the end of the season, according to the Daily Star.
The report claims Wenger, who celebrated his 20th anniversary since being appointed Gunners boss on Thursday, will stand down from his role as manager when his contract expires next summer.
And it is understood that the club's hierarchy have earmarked Bournemouth boss Howe as their number one choice to replace the Frenchman.
Howe, 38, is regarded as one of the finest young managers around after masterminding Bournemouth's promotion to the Premier League as well as leading them to safety last season.
