The young midfielder has plenty of cause to celebrate after coming on against Leicester in the League Cup, but he did break one slightly embarrassing record
Nathaniel Chalobah was forced to wait almost six years, and a whole 2,190 days since he first made the bench at the age of 15 on 22 September 2010, to make his Chelsea debut.
He has broken the record previously held by Chelsea goalkeeper Nick Colgan, who had to wait 1,656 days between the years of 1992 and 97 for his first-team bow.
Chalobah had been brought into Chelsea's squad during the pre-season tour of Austria and America and impressed his new manager Antonio Conte.
Since being an unused substitute against Newcastle in 2010, and his first appearance for the Blues against Leicester on Tuesday night, he has been on loan at Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Reading and Napoli.
