The City captain walked straight off the pitch after Swansea City pulled a goal back in stoppage time of their 2-1 defeat in the EFL Cup, sparking fears of yet another injury
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says he is waiting to discover the extent of Vincent Kompany's latest setback, although Gael Clichy insists his team-mate is okay.
Kompany made his first City appearance since limping out of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid in May when as the Blues beat Swansea City 2-1 in the EFL Cup.
But he left the pitch immediately after Gyfli Sigurdsson pulled one back for the Swans in stoppage time, sparking fears that he has suffered yet another injury.
Guardiola says he did notice that Kompany was struggling until the Belgian walked past him on the sidelines, and admits he is unsure of the extent of the problem.
"The doctors are speaking with him and seeing what's up, hopefully it will not be a big big problem but we are going to wait for the results from the doctors, still I don't have that."
Guardiola, however, was pleased with Kompany's time on the pitch.
"It was good, it's not easy after a long long time without playing. Defensively he was so strong."
Clichy, meanwhile, believes his team-mate was just playing it safe.
"I think when you've been out for a long time you have to be careful on your comeback," he told reporters after the match.
"Most of the time you don't play more than an hour so probably he was just a bit tired. I don't think it's something big, I hope not.
"He told me he was OK and I hope he is because he has been out for a long time and this club needs their captain so hopefully it will be just a matter of days and he will be back soon."
