Super Eagles stars throw weight behind Siasia ahead of Egypt double header
Top Super Eagles players have been calling the interim coach Samson Siasia signify their readiness to help outwit Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header in Kaduna and Cairo on March 25 and 29.
An impeccable source at the Nigeria Football Federation told Goal about the federation’s excitement at the willingness and readiness of the top players in the team to beat the Pharaohs and help the nation qualify for the 2017 Afcon in Gabon.
“You won’t believe it, unlike before top Super Eagles players like team captain Ahmed Musa, John Mikel Obi, Odion Ighalo, Leon Balogun and others have been calling to signify their interest to fight Egypt to a standstill and beat them to the Afcon ticket. The way I see the determination from the players shows ray of hope that Nigeria will outwit Egypt for the ticket,” the official told Goal.
The technical crew of the Super Eagles, led by the chief coach Samson Siasia, stormed the NFF premises as early as 12.30pm on Thursday for a crucial meeting on the list of players to be released after meeting with the technical committee.
Other players expected to make the list are Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi while Nigeria U23 captain, Azubuike Ikechukwu, is also expected to be a surprise inclusion.
