Golf:Ha Na Jang and Mirim Lee share HSBC Women's Champions lead
South Korea's Ha Na Jang fired a six-under-par 66 to move into a share of the lead after the second round of the HSBC Women's Champions tournament in Singapore.
The 23-year-old, who won her maiden LPGA title at the Coates Golf Championship in Florida last month, birdied the first, fourth, 14th and 18th holes but the highlight of her round came at the par-five seventh where she holed a monster eagle putt from off the green.
Jang sets the pace on eight under 136 at Sentosa Golf Course alongside compatriot Mirim Lee.
"Today I just told myself to be patient and not to think about the score, other players and the golf course and it seemed to make it easy for me," said Jang.
"I have two more days, so I need more concentration but I think I can do it."
Lee, 25, got up and down from a greenside bunker to birdie the last and shoot a 67 on a wet and windy day. She had earlier birdied the fourth, eighth, 12th and 13th.
"I'm just going to try and hit it straight, straight, straight and then make, make, make," said Lee.
Thailand's Pornaning Phatlum carded a 67 and Norway's Suzann Petterson signed for a 69 to be joint third, a stroke behind the leading pair, with a group of four players lurking just one shot further behind and a total of 34 players under par.
South Korean duo Amy Yang and Sun-Ju Ahn, American Gerina Piller and China's Shanshan Feng are all on six under.
The joint overnight leaders, Taiwanese veteran Candie Kung and Australian teenager Minjee Lee both finished strongly after mixed rounds to remain in contention.
Kung regained her composure and parred her last seven holes after making a disastrous double-bogey on the 11th to shoot a par 72 and remain five under, while Lee birdied her last two holes to get to four under after spoiling her card with five bogeys.
The defending champion, South Korea's Inbee Park, is three under after dropping three shots on her opening four holes, while New Zealand's world No 1 Lydia Ko fell nine shots behind the leaders after a two-over 74 that included a double bogey on her opening hole.
Charley Hull is tied for 35th place on level par after adding a 73 to her 71 on Thursday, while fellow Englishwoman Melissa Reid is back on six over after shooting a two-under 70 following her disastrous 80 in the first round.
