Done deal: Thierry Henry returns to BBC's legion pundits team ahead of Euro 2016

The former France and Arsenal striker has been loaned out by Sky Sports for this summer's tournament in his homeland, and cannot wait for the competition to start

Thierry Henry will return to a former team for this summer’s European Championship in France, with the Arsenal legend having agreed to re-join the BBC’s legion of pundits.

Henry won the tournament in 2000, and also picked up a World Cup winners’ medal two years earlier, and will be bringing his insight to TV screens come June.

The 38-year-old, who hung up his football boots in 2014 after a spell with New York Red Bulls, has been working as a pundit for rivals Sky Sports for the past year, having previously worked with the BBC at the 2014 World Cup.

"I really enjoyed the World Cup in Brazil and it was a completely different experience as a pundit rather than a player," the former Gunner explained.

"I am enjoying my broadcasting work and look forward to being part of the BBC's team, covering some of the great matches featuring Europe's best players.

"It is a tournament that is very close to my heart, having won it 15 years ago, and the fact it is being held in France will make it an extra special experience."

One of Henry’s first high-profile matches could be England against Wales, which the BBC nabbed the rights for ahead of ITV, though Gary Lineker & Co. will need to make sure they give the new recruit plenty of space in case he tries to grab their thighs as he did with Jamie Carragher!
