The 39-year-old will look to win a second Super Bowl on Sunday when the Broncos face the Carolina Panthers in Santa Clara, but many of the headlines leading up to the game have concerned the possibility it will be his last game.
Manning reignited the conversation after Denver's win over New England in the AFC Championship Game, when he was seen to tell Patriots coach Bill Belichick "this might be my last rodeo".
Talk of his immediate future had started during the regular season when Manning, who has been through several surgeries on his neck, spent six weeks on the sidelines with arm and foot injuries.
"I haven't made up my mind, but I don't see myself knowing that until after the season like I said earlier," said Manning, who has thrown more touchdowns (539) than any other NFL quarterback.
"Whatever cliche you want to use...but I kind of stay in the moment and focus on the task at hand and just deal with this week, that's what I've done all season."
Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said the subject of Manning's potential retirement was not something that was concerning him or the rest of the team as they prepare to face the Panthers.
"It really hasn't - that hasn't come up," Kubiak added. "We've stayed in the moment. That's what we're doing. Peyton is staying in the moment with me in this preparation for this football game.
"It has all been about each and every day how can we get ready to play Carolina and be the best we can be this week."
