Cricket-Australia v India: Tourists seal T20 whitewash with last-ball win
India secured a seven-wicket win over Australia off the final ball in a thrilling T20 international in Sydney to seal a 3-0 series whitewash.
Stand-in skipper for Australia, Shane Watson (124 off 71), had earlier smashed a first T20I hundred as the hosts scored 197-5 from their 20 overs.
Rohit Sharma (52 off 38) and Virat Kohli (50 off 36) struck high-class fifties in reply as India confidently set about their target before impressive leg-spinner, Cameron Boyce (2-28), removed both.
Watson conceded only five from the penultimate over to see India struggling suddenly, needing 17 to win from the last but Yuvraj Singh (15no off 12) smacked a four and six off the first two balls of Andrew Tye's over, and then Suresh Raina (49no off 25) hit the winning boundary with two needed off the last ball.
Australia lost the in-form Usman Khawaja (14) early after winning the toss and batting first, but opening partner Watson almost single-handedly propelled Australia to their imposing total.
Shaun Marsh and Glenn Maxwell fell for single-figure scores, before Travis Head (26 off 19 balls) and Chris Lynn (13 off nine) provided some useful lower-order support.
But it was all about Watson, who smacked 10 fours and six sixes in his maiden T20I hundred, and only the second for Australia, behind Aaron Finch's 156 against England in 2013.
Watson was dropped by Kohli in the 13th over when only on 56, but the Indian batsman helped make up for it with his fifty in India's chase of Australia's 198-run target.
He and Sharma put on 78 for the second wicket after Shikhar Dhawan smoked 26 from only nine balls - including four fours and a six - to get the tourists off to a flier, 24 taken off one Shaun Tait over.
But soon after notching their half centuries, Sharma and Kohli's wickets threatened to derail India's run-chase, before Raina and Yuvraj's final over efforts saw them to the win and series whitewash.
