Rafael Nadal warmed up for the new season with victory at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship exhibition event in Abu Dhabi.
Nadal had a wretched 2015, with poor form and injuries taking their toll. But he looked in decent nick in beating Milos Raonic 7-6 6-3 in the final of the big-money event.
Nadal, the world No 5, will now go to Doha for the first ATP event of the season where he faces world No 67 Pablo Carreno Busta in the first round.
World No 1 Novak Djokovic will also launch his season at the Qatar Open.
Raonic meanwhile heads to Australia for the Brisbane International.
