David Bowie passed away, aged 69, on Monday after an 18-month fight against cancer, with Arsene Wenger among those involved in football paying their respects
Arsene Wenger led the way as the football world paid its respects to music legend David Bowie on Monday.
Bowie, whose hits include Let’s Dance, Space Oddity, Starman and Heroes, passed away after an 18-month battle with cancer.
Arsenal manager Wenger explained the 69-year-old was “very important” for his generation because of the messages his songs and his personality sent out.
“I am a fan of his music, of course - but I’m not a specialist enough to assess his musical quality!” the Frenchman said at a news conference.
“I must say, the message he gave to my generation was very important because it was basically after second world war.
“What I keep from his message, his philosophical message, is be strong enough to be yourself - that is a very strong message and was very important for my generation.”
