We are ready to take over from Mimiko – Akeredolu

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, says he has no doubt that the APC would defeat the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the governorship poll.

Akeredolu, who was a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, emerged as the candidate of the APC in the primary, which was held in Akure on Saturday

Speaking with journalists after being declared winner of the primary, he said, “We don’t need to give signal to Mimiko. Undoubtedly, we will produce the next governor of Ondo State. We will give governance a new face in Ondo State.”

He commended all the stakeholders, particularly, the electoral committee – headed by the governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, for the making the primary a free, fair and transparent one,

He said, “The committee was thorough in every respect; they did not force anything on us. The primary was well conducted and the most transparent primary I have ever witnessed. ”

The APC candidate pledged to reconcile with all aggrieved aspirants and members of the party. He also promised to work with every member of the party to ensure the party wins the forthcoming governorship election.

Meanwhile, the Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Abayomi Adesanya, said the primary of the party was an indication that the governorship election would be a mere formality for the party. He said the APC had produced the best candidate for the election.

“We fought imposition that is why we were able to have a free and fair primary. The electoral committee has done wonderfully well.

“We want to advise our former chairman, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke, and other aggrieved members to join us in working for the success of the party in the governorship election” Adesanya said.
