SCORES of members of the National Committee of Yoruba Youths (NCYY) yesterday demanded the resignation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
They submitted a letter to the party’s Southwest zonal secretariat at Alakia, Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
The letter, signed by the National President of NCYY, Oladimeji Odeyemi, titled: “An open letter demanding the resignation of Chief Odigie-Oyegun as national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC)”, was received on behalf of the zonal secretary.
The letter reads: “The National Committee of Yoruba Youths (NCYY) wishes to demand the resignation of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Our call today is premised on Odigie-Oyegun’s refusal to toe the line of honour and integrity by yielding to calls to resign.
“As Yoruba, we are deeply worried about how Odigie-Oyegun and some desperate elements within the party have succeeded in polarising a once united APC in the Southwest, through his fraudulent handling of the outcome of the governorship primaries in Ondo State.
“We have also, over time, watched with interest the undue political victimisation, persecution and harassment of the party’s Acting National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Timi Frank, by a despicable cabal, led by Odigie-Oyegun.
“We wish to inform Nigerians and APC party faithful that there is no established legal or political precedent for the charade that Odigie-Oyegun and this cabal are planning to embark upon by stampeding an elected party official.
“As stakeholders in the Nigerian project, we see that Chief Odigie-Oyegun and his cohorts are embarking on political vendetta and sheer act of intimidation against Comrade Timi Frank.”
