Six days after his abduction by gunmen, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bagudu Hirse, has regained freedom from his abductors in Kaduna.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State Police Command, Aliyu Usman, Hirse who was kidnapped last Sunday, was freed on Saturday.
Usman did not confirm whether a ransom was paid or not before the former minister’s release.
However, a security source told our correspondent that Hirse was released by his abductors following “security pressure” mounted on the kidnappers.
“The pressure apparently forced the abductor to release the ex-ministers. The heat was just too much on them,” he said.
