In a bid to reward excellence among its student members, Foursquare Gospel Church has presented awards of excellence to 56 of its members who made first class and distinction in their respective institutions both in Nigeria and abroad.
The General Overseer of the church, Rev. Felix Meduoye, who made the presentation during the church’s 2016 National Convention recently, said the award was instituted in 2013 to celebrate the graduates for their outstanding performance and to encourage the youth to aim for excellence in their academics.
A statement by the National Coordinator, National Fellowship of Foursquare Students, Pastor Sam Adebowale, said this year’s edition was an improvement on that of last year when only 31 first class graduates were honoured.
It added that eight out of the 56 awardees were from the McPherson University owned by the church.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, a graduate of Dentistry from the Obafemi Awolowo University and former National President of NaFFS, Gbenga Ojuola, appreciated the “kind gesture” of the leadership of the church, saying “by God’s grace, the awardees would continue to shine as lights in the darkness of the world and be good ambassadors of the church.”
