Senate President Bukola Saraki has said that the Senate rejection of a $30billion loan request from President Muhammadu Buhari was never a reflection of the nature of relationship between the National Assembly and the Executive arm of government.
The Senate President has therefore urged Nigerians not to politicise its decision of throwing out the request.
Saraki, who was in the Presidential Villa to join Buhari and other dignitaries for yesterday’s Jum’a prayers, described the borrowing plan as “a very important issue”. The Senate President explained the loan issue was a work in progress.
“We should not look at that as a reflection of the relationship. Don’t let us politicise very important issues. As we said this is work in progress,” he said.
