Sri Lanka paceman Shaminda Eranga has been suspended for an illegal action, hours after being admitted to hospital for tests on an increased heart rate.
The 29-year-old, who has played 41 times for his country in the three formats of the game, was reported for his action after the second Test against England at Chester-le-Street on May 31.
Eranga, who featured in all three Tests against England but took just five wickets, was tested on June 6 at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough, an ICC accredited testing centre.
"The assessment revealed that all deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations," said an ICC statement.
"Eranga's international suspension will also be recognised and enforced by all National Cricket Federations for domestic cricket events played in their own jurisdiction, save that, with the consent of Sri Lanka Cricket, Eranga may be able to play in domestic cricket events played in Sri Lanka under the auspices of Sri Lanka Cricket."
Eranga can apply for a reassessment after modifying his action.
However, the bowler has more to worry about at the moment having been kept in hospital overnight to undergo tests on an increased heart-rate.
Eranga reported some discomfort after batting late on in Sri Lanka's win over Ireland in Malahide and did not take the field for the hosts' innings.
"His heart-rate went up so they kept him in hospital to do all the testing," a Sri Lanka Cricket spokesman said.
"He was okay and stable and we are awaiting the results."
Sri Lanka are due to return to England late on Sunday ahead of the first one-day international at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.
